ANDREA THOMPSON

Andrea Thompson is the Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire UK, where she has led the brand’s transformation into a dynamic digital-first platform since taking the role in 2019. An award-winning journalist and media leader with more than 25 years’ experience, Andrea oversees Marie Claire UK’s editorial vision across fashion, beauty, culture and the brand’s purpose-driven campaigns, as well as its growing events, partnerships and digital strategy.

 

Recognised for both her leadership and advocacy, Andrea was named one of the UK’s Top 50 Trailblazers by WeAreTheCity for championing gender equality and was honoured in the 2026 Powerlist, celebrating the UK’s most influential Black British talent. In 2025 she served as Chair of the British Society of Magazine Editors, where she continues to lead the organisation’s diversity, equity and inclusion work.

Before joining Marie Claire, Andrea built a distinguished career across some of the UK’s most respected media organisations, including The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, Channel 4, Glamour and Grazia. Throughout her career she has been passionate about telling stories that amplify voices often overlooked by mainstream media. Under her leadership, Marie Claire won an Amnesty Media Award for its powerful reporting on rape in the Congo.

 

Alongside her editorial work, Andrea writes a weekly newsletter and column, Andrea’s It List, sharing her curated edit of the most exciting names, ideas and innovations shaping fashion and beauty today. A passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, sustainability and diversity, Andrea is also a regular speaker at industry events and mentors young women from under-represented backgrounds seeking to build careers in media.
